A product records what one of it is called: a vial, a pill, a capsule, a tablet, a bottle, a box, a pen, a syringe, a sachet, a patch, or just a unit. It is the noun, not the measurement — how much is in one is still the strength, so nothing about your dose maths or your price per mg changes.
Set it on the product. Consumables are usually boxes — alcohol pads 200 to a box, insulin syringes 100 to a box — and choosing Box is what makes the screen read "31 boxes" instead of "31 bottles", and draws a carton on the Inventory tab instead of a bottle.
Products made before this existed are vials, which is what they always read as. Change it on the product if a box is what it always was.
