Money You Take In Person

This is one screen in PepStockApp StoreGoogle Play

A reseller hands you cash at a meetup, or you want to ask one to put money down before you send more stock. Open their card on the Team tab and find Payments & Deposits.

There are two ways to book money you already have, and they are the same two your resellers see on their own screens.

Record a Payment Received is money settling a balance they owe. Record a Deposit Received is money down in advance, before their sales come in. Both become credit against what they owe in exactly the same way — the difference is what your statement says afterwards, so cash handed over to square up does not read later as a prepayment. Neither needs confirming: you were both in the room.

Each row in your list is labelled PAYMENT or DEPOSIT, and your reseller sees the same row on their phone — amount, date, your note and which of the two it was. Before this release, money you recorded in person moved their balance and showed them nothing: a number that went up with no row to point at.

⚠️ Money you recorded before updating has no such row and never will. Its effect on the balance is real and correct, but there is nothing on their side to show for it — inventing records for past cash is the one repair that could credit the same money twice.

⚠️ Re-inviting cuts off the phone they are using now. The button on a linked reseller reads Link a Different Device for that reason, and asks before it does anything. It is the right thing when someone changes phone; it is the wrong thing when they simply want the link again, because their working device stops the moment you send it. Nothing is lost either way — their stock, their balance and everything they have sent you stay exactly as they are.

⚠️ Fill in how you take money. Settings → Business Card holds your Venmo, Cash App, Zelle and crypto details, and they are what your resellers see on their own payment screens. Leave them blank and a reseller trying to pay you is told the house has not listed anywhere to send it. Apple Pay cannot be listed — it has no handle to share and works through Messages against your phone number.

Request a Deposit asks them for one. Nothing is booked: the request appears on their phone, and if they send money it comes back to you as a deposit to confirm in the normal way. That is why a request has no date — no money has moved yet, and the date comes from them when it does.

Tap any deposit in the list to correct its amount, its date or its note.

⚠️ You cannot lower a deposit below the part that has already settled sales, and you cannot delete one that has. Those sales are marked paid BY this money; taking it away would leave them paid by nothing, and every total would still add up. The screen tells you how much is locked and how much is still free credit.

The Android app has the same two actions in the same place.
