When a Cost Was Counted Twice

This is one screen in PepStockApp StoreGoogle Play

Filing the same expense onto the same purchase twice used to add its money twice — a re-done certificate or a repeated lab panel was the usual way in. That purchase then cost you more than you paid, and the extra came off your profit as those units sold.

The app finds these in books you already have. If a purchase is carrying the same cost more than once, your dashboard says so and offers to show you: the product, the description, the date, what was charged, and what removing a copy takes off that purchase.

⚠️ Nothing is removed unless you say so. A failed test and its retest are genuinely the same lab, the same price and often the same day — so each one is shown for you to judge rather than swept away.

The opposite is listed beside it. Filing an expense onto a purchase stops it counting as an overhead, because that stock is meant to carry it instead. If the purchase was not actually carrying it, the money was counted nowhere at all — not deferred, gone. A restored backup was the common way in. One tap puts it where it belongs.

⚠️ Profit you have already reported does not move. Sales you have already recorded keep the cost they were given on the day they sold, so profit for a past period does not change. To bring one up to date, open that order and save it.

Filing an expense now records it on the purchase from the start, so neither of these can happen again.

Postage is checked too. If a parcel's postage is recorded both on the sale and as an expense, it is coming off your profit twice — that is shown beside the others, and again nothing is removed for you. Dates are read in your phone's timezone, so someone in another country looking at the same books may see a slightly different list.
